The NPP will work for the welfare of farmers of Meghalaya: Prestone Tynsong

Shillong, January 10:  Former cabinet minister Prestone Tynsong today promised welfare of farmers as a top most priority if NPP is voted to power at an election rally in Umroi, Ri-Bhoi.

He stressed on the poor credit ratio of the banks. “Lack of credit facilities is hampering the economic growth of the farmers and small entrepreneurs”, said Tynsong, who alleged that Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma was not concern for the rights of the farmers.

“I had taken up the issue of poor credit ratio with CM, who hold the finance portfolio but he was least bothered. I made several attempts to apprise him to take necessary interventions but due to his arrogance and dictatorial attitude he did not address the issue”, the NPP leader said.

He also told the crowd that Congress was trying to create misconception about NPP by propagating lies and spreading false rumours. “NPP as a party is committed to work for the interest of all people and enhance their livelihood and protect land rights of the people”, he said.

In the pubic raly over 10000 plus people pledged their support for NPP candidate Ngaitlang Dhar, ex-MLA of Umroi at the rally.

Speaking at the rally Dhar said, “In 2013, the people had come to him with the mandate that he should ensure that all villages in Umroi should get roads and connectivity between villages and he had kept his promise”.

Dhar informed that he had donated his entire salary of Rs. 60 lakh plus 9 lakh from his own account to the dorbar, orphanages, different denominations, sports clubs and events, etc.“In the last 5 years I have constructed more than 40 football fields in the constituency”.

He said that people have witnessed more development in the last 4 years under his tenure as MLA than in the last 40 years.
