1st Ri-Bhoi District Level Kickboxing Championship 2014 concluded

Nongpoh, July 27: 2 Days 1st Ri-Bhoi District Level Kickboxing Championship 2014 came to an end on the 26th July 2014 at Umling Umsarang Village with Shri M Syiem President Ri Bhoi District Sports Association as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. It was opened on the 25th July 2014 by Chief Guest Jaian Sylliang President Northern Border Area KSU in the presence of Rangbah Shnong Dros Lyngdoh Umling Umsarang Village 75kms from Shillong.

Mr Dro Lyngdoh is happy that the C’ship was conducted with A Traditional Ring made of Bamboo products readily available in plenty in his Village. Fourwell Khongmalai the Championship Director with Edward Mawthoh and Arson Suting as Technical Referees along with Shri Donny Ranee as the Overall Supervisor & Chief Technical Adviser of Meghalaya Association of Kickboxing Organisations (MAKO).

Mr  Thomas Rangthaluh President of Kickboxing Association of Ri-Bhoi District is the Chief Organizer of the 2 Days C’ship. Altogether 60 participants took part with best team trophy goes to Nongtluh Area near Umden Village with runner’s up trophy bagged by Village Tasku near Lailad Village. Fair Play Award or most disciplinary team trophy was bagged by Umling Umsarang Village.

Others who won the medals under 50 kgs senior, New Comer Tado gold medal with silver medal bagged by Ioannis Tahngkhiew and bronze went to Gilbert Klein and Banaibor Ranee respectively. 52 kgs junior gold medal goes to Barsing Maring, silver to Basterwell Laloo and bronze medals went to Fairdinand Klein and Kwiranus Laloo. Below 60 kgs senior, Bikshiar Iangi, Sibu klein and Pynborlang maring with Plielad Pator for gold, silver and bronze medal respectively. 48 kgs junior, Anthony Shadap for Gold, Everest Diya for silver, Donlang Trang and Mathes Makri for bronze medals. Below 40 kgs junior, gold medal goes to Kiran Malai, silver to Rosterwell Thangkhiew and bronze to Banteilang Maiong and Bankyrshan Lyngdoh. In the below 44 kgs junior, gold to Silverstar marten, silver to Banskhem Waniong. 36 kgs sub-junior, Bilshon Thangkhiew (gold), Samuel Syngkli (silver).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Kickboxing is one of martial arts forms of 8 categories. One form is in Musical Category, Aero kickboxing. In Tatami, there are three categories namely Point Fighting, Kicklight and Lght Contact. In Ring Sports there are Full Contact, Lowkick, Thaikick (K-1) and the most popular one nowadays is the professional Kikboxing which MAKO have decided to introduced for the first time in Shillong in December 2014 with prize money for the winners.(SP News)
