The Railway Protection Force rescued 669 minor children from anti social element in 2018

Maligaon,Jan 12: The  Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway successfully rescued as many as 669 minor boys and girls from railway premises like stations/trains during the period from January to December, 2018 before the children could be lured by anti-social elements. 9 human traffickers were also arrested red handed who were transporting minor girls in trains.

In one such case on 17.12.2018, acting on information regarding runaway of five minor boys from their home in Dimapur and travelling by train, Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) team comprising Head Constable Mr Bikram Bose and Constable Mr A.K. Singh checked train No. 14055 Brahmaputa Mail and detected three of the above minor boys.

Further, as per the information provided by the rescued boys, search was conducted in train No. 12067 UP Jansatabdi Express on 18.12.2018 by Inspector RPF / Nayeem Uddin and staff of Lumding Post at Lumding railway station and detected the two other minor boys. All the boys are from Rangapahar Crossing Gate No. 1 area, PO & PS: Dimapur, Nagaland. Parents of the rescued boys were informed over phone and subsequently, they were handed over to their respective parents after proper identification.

In another such case on 01.01.2019, at about 10.30 hrs, Asst. Sub Inspector Mr S. N. Singh, Lady Head Constable Mr Sujata Das and  Lady Constable Mr  S. Pandey of RPF Post, Katihar (East), while checking at Katihar railway station, rescued one missing minor boy at platform No. 1. The boy had gone missing at Katihar station while travelling in train No. 15904 (Chandigarh Express) along with his parents. Announcement was made through PA system and his parents turned up. Later on, the rescued boy was handed over to his parents after proper identification.

It may be mentioned here that RPF has been successfully rescuing run away child as well as child from the clutch of traffickers regularly along with arrest of traffickers. Rescued children are normally handed over to their parents or various NGOs like Child Line. Various squads of RPF are regularly conducting checks at railway premises to prevent such cases.

It is known that gang of traffickers are very much active in this region to take children and women away to other parts of the country.  The arrested traffickers are being handed over to GRP for appropriate action under law.
