Bangladesh asked Indian Govt not to build Dawki Bridge on the same site

Shillong, October 30: The PWD department government of Meghalaya has to fine a new site at Umngot river since the government of Bangladesh asked the government of India if Dawki bridge is to be reconstructed it should not be from the same site since this bridge is closed to the International Border.

Sources told SP News Agency that the PWD Department has to fine an alternative site near to Darang Village in West Jaintia Hills connecting with the existing road in that village, while from Khasi Hills they have to resurvey for the new alignment of the Road.

This Shillong-Tamabil road is important to both the county India and Bangladesh since the Guwahati-Dhaka Bus services is in service from this road where people from both countries are started traveling to this road to visit Dhaka and Guwahati.

The PWD department has to survey the new alignment of the road from the East Khasi Hills area which fall under the Pynursla Block  and the process of land acquisition has to be done at the earliest so that this project that will be funded by the  Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) could see the light of  the day at the earliest.
