Shillong, October 30: After two years of persuasion the Government of Bangladesh finally grants permission to the government of India to connect optic fiber to the North Eastern State from Chittagong port to Agartala and will be link to all North Eastern State.
The Commissioner and Secretary Information Technology and communication government of Meghalaya Mr DP Wahlang told media person in the presence of the minister incharge of the IT Department Smti Ampareen Lyngdoh that the problem of connectivity of the Internet in the North Eastern state is due to the long line that was drown from the main land India.
He said that frequent snap that taken place at Malda and in Siliguri in West Bengal, where the line inter the North Eastern State has disrupt internet connection in the region he event said that “ the mother of all evil in internet connectivity in the region is due to bad connection”.
With the permission that the government of India got from the Bangladesh government to bring the undersea optical fiber through Chittagong port and connect the North Eastern State via Agartala, with this facility internet connection in the entire region will be at-par with the rest of the country. Once this work is completed people of the region will have good internet connection.
India today has got only two undersea fiber connection, one in Mumbai and the other is in Chennai, with this Chittagong connection that will connect the North Eastern Region will improve the internet connectivity. Once the project is completed the region will be at par with the rest of the country in the internet connectivity.
The Minister incharge IT Smti Ampareen Said that as the minister she has received a lot of complaint from the people but she has not been able to clarified since all this are of technical term. From the Government will see what can they do so that the slogan “Digital India” will help the people of our state with better internet facility.
