Dr Issac injuries on his hand when trying to sedate a patient at Civil Hospital Shillong

Shillong, June 7: Dr Issac Syiem a Senior Surgeon at Civil Hospital Shillong suffered injuries on his hand when trying to sedate a patient who reportedly turned aggressive during treatment.

The patient identified as Theodore Moallem, a foreign national from USA, was brought to the hospital after he complained of chest pain and breathlessness. He had returned from Guwahati to Shillong on Saturday.

The patient was allegedly restless, agitated and violent and had refused to take medication provided by the nursing staff. It was informed that the patient started attacking the hospital staff, and breaking doors and chairs.

Following this, the patient was physically restrained and administered a sedative. During the process, finger of Dr Syiem was fracture a case has been registered at Laban Police Station under various sections of IPC and NDMA.
