Shillong, April 14: Dr K K Paul the Governor of Meghalaya attended the annual shad suk Mynsiem of the Khasi community at Weiking Ground, Shillong, along with him the home minister Smti Roshan Warjri, Government Chief whip Mr R V Lyngdoh and the MLA from the UDP Mr Titus Chyne was also present in the thanks giving dance at the Weiking.
The three day annual thanks giving dance to the almighty organized byn the seng khasi Mawkhar started on the Saturday and concluded today. Thousands of people from different party of the Khasi Hills from far and near flock to Weiking to witness the Khasi traditional dance as part of the effort to preserved the culture and to evoke also the blessing of the almighty in this sawing season.
Young boys and girls from the khasi community dress in the khasi attire dance happily at the weking ground according to the rhythm of the khasi traditional music manually play on the ground. In the last day today who take part in the ‘shad marstih’ the young boys all together there are 475 and the young girls who participate in the ‘shad hinih’ are 415.
The annual shad suk mynsiem which concluded today is the 104 that was perform at the weiking ground. Ka Shad suk mynsiem is the khasi dance which categories into two parts, fist to thank the almighty for his blessing and the second parts is to seek the blessing of the almighty in the years to come.(SP News)
