Faith Foundation observed International Women Day with a deference

Shillong, March 09: Faith Foundation is an NGO  is driven by their extensive experiences in the social development sector and their local understandings of vulnerable and exploited communities.

Faith Foundation’s programs are interventionist and are designed to bridge the gaps which have thus far been overlooked by other organizations. Faith Foundation aims to bring new strategies to the intervention model and does not replicate what existing programs and services provide.

At present Faith Foundation works to empower children and young women in schools, child care institutions in and around Shillong through Life Skills Education to reduce their risk and vulnerability to different forms of abuse and exploitation

Faith Foundation organisation in collaborative efforts with the Seng Kynthei Mawprem hosting an NGO MELA at Mawprem Community with the objectives, To observe ‘International Women’s Day’ on March 2017, To increase awareness of various issues of abuse and violence affecting women and children,To create linkages to organisations working for women and children and the services they provide,To increase participation of women in the community to take action according to the Theme ‘ Be Bold For Change’ and to develop networking and working relationship with communities and organisations.

Faith Foundation organisation is inviting different Non-Governmental Organisation working for various social causes in the town namely North East Network & Iohlynti, Grassroots, You & I Arts Cafe, ChildLine, Bethany Society, Urban Mission, Voluntary Health Association of Meghalaya and WISE and Support Group – an initiative of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women. Each NGO will be given a stall to create awareness and present their work and services where community members can gain access to these services. Organisations will display pamphlets, posters and products. The occasion will bring a fruitful interaction between the organisation and the community.

Martin Luther Christian University is also actively participating in this event with students from the Department of Social work to perform a street play and also traditional music from the Fine Arts Department.
