Governor of Meghalaya Visit first line of defence in the Indo-Bangla border

Shillong, July 04: In continuation to his visit for the inauguration of Secondary School building at Ramakrishna Mission Shella, Shri V Shanmuganathan, Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya also visited the Border Security Force Out Post Shella. He was accompanied by Shri P K Dubey, Inspector General, BSF, Meghalaya Frontier to take a stock of security situation at border and boost the morale of the BSF troops : The First Line of Defence.

During his visit, the Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya visited the border Out Post Shella under 123 BN BSF. He was presented with Guard of Honour on arrival by smartly turned out special guard of BSF. A briefing about the border domination and the security situation at border after the terror attack in Dhaka was given to the Hon’ble Governor by Shri P K Dubey, Inspector General, BSF. The armoury and special surveillance equipments were displayed by the BSF. During the visit the Hon’ble Governor interacted with Jawans through a Sainik Sammelan.

Taking the pulse of the First Line of Defence he spoke to every single jawan and encouraged them with motivational speech. In his speech he said “it is gratifying to see that BSF personnel are drawn from all the States leaving the family behind for this noble cause. It’s a great sacrifice of BSF personnel for national cause.” He appreciated the duties performed by the BSF soldiers, without caring the personal comforts inspite of hardships due to remoteness of the location, extreme climatic conditions and geographical features like thick jungle, rivers, nullahs etc.

He complimented the Force for playing a pivotal role and contributing immensely towards all facets of national security. Being the world largest border guarding force, it has glorious saga of velour, sacrifice & dedication and stood upto every challenge which country has faced during last 50 years after its raising.

He was confident that BSF will continue to work with full zeal and enthusiasm in guarding the borders of nation. He conveyed his great happiness about BSF also undertaking Civic Action Programme like imparting training in various skills development programme and training for induction in CAPFs to the needy border populace.

He also stated that it was his desire to visit BSF BOPs and see himself how brave Jawans of BSF are guarding our International Border with Bangladesh.

He extended his best wishes to all BSF personnel and their families and complimented that the Force may continue to achieve excellence and inspire through its deeds of courage and valour. The Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya also had tea with Sentinels of Border before leaving to Shillong.
