Shillong, September 05: On the day in which the whole country is celebrating ‘Teachers Day’ a Shillong base radio station, today awarded the first ever Red FM 93.5 ‘Most Loving and Rocking Teacher’ of the year to Luphina Kharumnuid a teacher of Green Hill Higher Secondary School Sohryngkham.
The award is based on the nomination by Red FM listeners who have been posting their nomination at the Red FM Facebook page and also through sending of emails of their favorite teacher.
Speaking to reporters after receiving the award, Kharumnuid said, “Since the day I took up this profession I have always taken that the students as my own children and even though there were hard times in dealing with difficult I’m glad to see that my students have achieved success in their lives.”
On achieving the award, she said, “I feel privilege to receive the award and this will be an incentive and motivation for me to keep giving my all for my students.”
Earlier, Desmond Sun Assistant Programming Head, RED FM 93.5 said, and the aim of the award is to make the students value the hard work and dedication of their teachers in providing quality education.
He also encourage Kharumnuid to keep imparting valuable knowledge to her students as in her 29 years teaching career in Khasi subject her students have achieved 100 percent pass percentage.
“In my 29 years of teaching i always taught moral values to my students on how to preserve the local culture and tradition and most of my students have achieve 100 percent pass percentage in exams,” he said.
