International Film Festival will be held in the city on Mother Teresa

Shillong, August  8: With an aim to promote the values of peace, love and service in humanity as was the vision of Mother Teresa an International Film Festival will be held in the city from 6-9 September at the U Soso Tham Auditorium.

The festival is scheduled to be held in more than 100 cities in India, including 50 other countries around the world. The movies to be shown at the festival are from 7 international countries from Spain, Canada, France, Italy, USA, Japan and India. The festival will Kick start from Kolkata on 26-29 August and later it will be held around the world.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, Festival Director for North East Fr. Francis Steven, Jowai Diocese said, “All the movies being shown in the festival are short movies and documentaries based on the life of Mother Teresa and we hope through these movies the message of Mother Teresa of peace, love and service can be heard not just by Christians but Non-Christians as well.”

The festival will also be held in Jowai on 14-17 September in Jowai at the District Library.

He said the people after viewing the movies and documentaries on the life of Mother Teresa the people should spread the message of peace, love and service.

Steven informed that free passes will be made available to the people of the state from 15-30 August, which can be easily availed from various outlets in the city.

According to the Festival Director for North East the 4 days Mother Teresa International Film Festival is expected to be attended by more than 25, 000 people.

“We are expecting more school students to attend the festival since they are learners and will be able to learn the qualities of Mother Teresa and to incorporate them for their future,” he said.
