It is not well with the sport department in selecting player for international event

Shillong, April 09:  Mr Khrawbok MarweinNational Gold Medalist Kickboxing Championship Low Kick, Below 51 kg. Senior Men Category, has sent the complaint letter to the state sport and Youth Affair Minister Mr Zenith Sangma, on the selection of sport person to participate in the international event.

Mr Marwein in his letter address to the minister alleged that he was discriminate and victimize by President, Meghalaya Association of Kickboxing Organizations (MAKO).He (Marwein) claim that he was martial arts athlete specialized in Kickboxing and Wushu.

He stated that, he has participated at the national level Kickboxing where in 2014, and bagged the bronze medal at the National Kickboxing Championship. In 2015, participated at the same Championship in Kolkata where I reached the Quarter Final. Then in Manipur North East Kickboxing Championship and  manage to get bronze medal. In 2016 he  participated at the National Kickboxing Championship at Visakhapatnam – Andhra Pradesh where he  bagged the gold medal in low-kick below 51 kg. Senior category.

Mr Marwein said that, It is very unfortunate that the response of the President, MAKO to this is very negative,            Moreover, despite the fact that “I have proved my mettle as a National Gold Medalist at Visakhapatnam in August, 2016, it pains me to know that I along with my colleague Mr. Albanrilang Pearson Mylliem Umlong were singled out for discriminatory action where we were deprived of representing the State in various National level tournaments including the Federation Cup”.

In the letter Mr Marwein said that, “where only the top ranking players were allowed to play for selection to the international level tournaments and championships like Asian Kickboxing Championship 2017 to be held in Ashgabat Turkmenistan in this Month, starting from  24th to 30th April 2017 and World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) World Senior Championship. This, I feel, is a breach of the sports policy of the State, the country and internationally”.

Mr Marwein alleged that the President, MAKO had whimsically selected one Mr  Pynshai Mawrie to represent the State at National and other International Championship which is against all norms and procedures since the above person has not even taken part in the 19th State Level Kickboxing Championship held at Khim-U-Sniang Indoor Hall, Jowai 5th to 7th May, 2016 or in last National Kickboxing Championship in Visakhapatnam 2016.

In the letter Mr Marwein also mention that “It is very unfortunate that the President, MAKO had never communicated to us the reasons for such discriminations. He never response to us and never give us the right to be heard. His negative actions toward us have had a damaging effect on our performances besides serving as a disincentive and discouragement to us and other aspiring athletes. It may also be mentioned that athletes representing under the banner of MAKO have to dole out expenses from their own pockets. This puts a big question on the fund allocated sponsored by the State Government for such championships”.

Mr Marwein request the sport minister to kindly take up the matter with the concerned authorities and further inform that Mr Donny Ranee is an Officer of the Public Health Engineering Department of the State Government and thereby attracts the code of conduct of the State Government through the Personnel Department which makes mandatory for him to obtain a No-Objection Certificate to hold any post in the sport bodies.
