JSU asked the state Govt only limited number of trucks should be allowed to ply to Bangladesh

Shillong, June 08:The JSU- War Jaintia Circle continues to oppose the trade at land customs of India bad Bangladesh since there are many factors that are not taken into account by the State Government.

The union questions the government whether the SOPs or protocols released are at par and relevant to the those release by Bangladesh. Have there been any communication between the concern health authorities of the two countries on the issue of inernational trade via the land customs.

Whereas some of the procedures are covered for the stricrt operation of the drivers, there have not been any rules for the operation of that workforce at the border, who are dealing with bill calculations and paper works in relating with the Custom office and DMR and also with the trade partners from the other side of the border.

There should be proper SOPs propose so as to help avoid close body contact between these workers of India and Bangladesh. The JSU feel that a meeting seeking the opinion of the exporters, this workforce and the Officers and government authorities’ incharge should have been convened prior to the release of the SOPs.

The JSU-WJC also demands that the government should barred trucks queuing up along the highway especially those carrying limestone and boulder. Also only limited number of trucks should be allowed to ply.

Since there are already excess numbers of trucks that belong to those from within the state we also demand that only these trucks should be allowed to cross and ban those of non tribal’s and outside state for carrying loads especially of limestone and boulder for export towards Bangladesh.
