Shillong, Aug 03: The Meghalaya Association of Kickboxing Organization (MAKO) said that the organization is looking for financial assistant from the people to help them so that the four sport person who were selelcted to in the WAKO CADETS & JUNIORS WORLD KICKBOXING CHAMPIONSHIP 2014, 6th – 14th September, Rimini, Italy will be able to participate.
The four person who were selected are, Miss Lorenza Songthiang, Miss Belldona Pakyntein, Mr Francis RR Songthiang and Mr Hame Shaniah Suaim, these is the privilege for the state of Meghalaya that the youth from thses state were selected to be part of “The WAKO Cadets & Juniors World Kickboxing Championships” that will be held in Rimini, Italy”.
Kickboxing is one of martial arts forms of 8 categories. One form is in Musical Category, Aero kickboxing. In Tatami, there are three categories namely Point Fighting, Kick-light and Light Contact. In Ring Sports there are Full Contact, Low-kick, Thai-kick (K-1) and the most popular one nowadays is the professional Kickboxing which MAKO have decided to introduced for the first time in Shillong in December 2014 with prize money for the winners.
MAKO was formed in Meghalaya in 1996 and hundreds of medals have been brought by MAKO martial arts athletes. Considering our achievement and medal winning tally, here is the good news as for all of us in the State of Meghalaya which is as follows. Till now more than 100 medals MAKO martial arts athletes have won.
All the above martial arts athletes in kickboxing have excel and brought medals for the state in their own way at the State Level, Regional and National Levels as well in different Championships held from time to time in the last few years.(SP News)
