Shillong, March 31:Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Prestone Tynsong today inaugurated two RCC road bridges in Shillong City one at Umlping and the others at Mawlai Nongpdeng, this two bridges are very important for the people of Shillong City over the Wahumkhrah River.
Deputy Chief Minister, in charge PWD (Roads) inaugurated a two lane bridge on Wahumkhrah River at Weiking, Shillong in the presence of MLAs Shri P T Sawkmie, Shri Adelbert Nongrum and Shri Pyniaid Sing Syiem, Mawlai MDC Shri Teibor Pathaw and Chief Engineer (NH), PWD (Roads) Shri G K Marak among others.
During his brief speech Shri P Tynsong expressed hope that the bridge will ease the traffic congestion to a certain extent and also will be beneficial to the residents of Mawlai, Jaiaw and Shillong city as a whole. He also informed that the project was delayed due to various issues including the Covid – 19 pandemic which hampered the various developmental progresses in the state.
It may be mentioned that the bridge was funded under the Central Road & Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the year 2018-19, at a cost of Rs 5 crores.
Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed 24.75M two lane bridge at Umpling constructed under CRF (2018-19), in the presence of MLAs Shri Pyniaid S Syiem, Shri Charles Pyngrope, Shri A L Hek, dignitaries from the PWD department and members of the Dorbar Shnong among others.
