Shillong, August 18: Meghalaya government today said the Aadhar number was not required for the students applying for post-matric scholarship of 2016-17.
The Directorate of Higher and Technical Education issued notification, stating that Aadhar number is not required for the students applying for the scholarship.
It might be mentioned that earlier the directorate had made it mandatory to mention Aadhar number while applying scholarship for the year 2016-17.
On August 12, commissioner and secretary (education) had said the government would write to various ministries of the central government to temporarily exempt Meghalaya from linking Aadhar number with grant of scholarship to the students.
