Shillong, October 02: The state of Meghalaya today observed the 2rd Swatch Bharat with the rest of the country, that was launched two years before by the prime minister Narendra Modi on this Gandhi Jayanti Day the birthday of the father of the Nation.
In Meghalaya today many cleaning drive has been organized in different part of the state, in the state capital the District administration has organized cleaning drive at Iewduh, where the governor of the state Mr V Shanmuganathan participate.
Speaking as the chief quest Mr Shanmuganathan said that apart from cleanliness, what most important is to be pure in our thought so that we can keep ourselves clean. To keep clean he said we should begin from our self if all are keeping clean then Iewduh will be clean.
Others who were present on this cleaning drive at Iewduh, from the KHADC represent by Mr Hadrian Lyngdoh, EM, the Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills Mr PS Dkhar, Local MLA Smti Roshan Warjri minister incharge health and family welfare. Urban affair minister RV Lyngdoh and many officials.
The Shillong, Cantonment Board also observed Swatch Bahrat by organizing cleaning drive with the Cantonment Board jurisdiction.
