Tura, August 5: Meghalaya police today laid an ambush against A’chik
Songna An’pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) outfit at Machangpani, near Dalu,
about 50 km from here.
The outfit had demanded Rs. 2 lakh from one Bonku Saha and was on
their way to collect the cash, when the police laid an ambush.
The incident took place at between 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm this afternoon.
Superintendent of police, West Garo Hills, Mukesh Singh said, “We had
inputs that the militants would come to his residence to collect the
ransom. There was brief exchange of fire but the three militants
managed to escape”.
Police have recovered .32 pistols with two live ammunitions from the spot.(SP News)
