Shillong, May 27: With an aim of creating awareness on Earthquake disaster preparedness for schools all over the State, the District level offices of the Civil Defence and Home Guards Department conducted mock exercise on Earthquake in different districts of the State since last week.
Continuing with the Civil Defence and Home Guards Department’s yearlong celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Statehood, the offices of Deputy Controller of Civil Defence and District Home Guards Commandants.
Today conducted mock exercises on Earthquake at Chengkom Me’dik Secondary School, Ampati, South West Garo Hills, Duramong Secondary School, Siju, South Garo Hills, Simsangre School Williamnagar, East Garo Hills District, Resubelpara Government School in North Garo Hills and Bolchugre Secondary School, Tura in West Garo Hills.
Similarly last week on 20th May 2022, mock exercise on Earthquake was conducted at Sati Raja School, Umsning in Ri Bhoi District, Lumjingshai Upper Primary School, Domjyrti-Rangmaw in South West Khasi Hills and at Sibsing Memorial Government Higher Secondary School,Nongstoin at West Khasi Hills District.
Teachers, Staff and Students in all these schools were trained on basic search and rescue, basic first aid and evacuation drill to mitigate the effects of Earthquake and other disasters.
