MPFWA slammed its counter association AMPSRA

Shillong, Apr 30, 2014: Meghalaya Poultry Farmers and Welfare Association (MPFWA) on Tuesday slammed its counter association All Meghalaya Poultry Supplier & Retailer Association (AMPSRA) has urging all poultry shops to shut from May 1st till May 7th.

Addressing a press conference at the Shillong Press Club, MPFWA secretary Alban Syiem said, “Our organization does not support the move called by the AMPSRA which has demoralized the enterprising youth of the state who have chosen poultry production as their career.”

Syiem further informed that the closure of the shops is due to their inability to purchase broiler chickens from Assam at higher rates.

Urging the government, Syiem further said “When employment generation is the burning issue we want that poultry and all other animal husbandry enterprises should be given priority and slowly make Meghalaya self sufficient since the current requirement is around 20500 tons per year and this figure is increasing day by day.”(SP News)
