Mr Himalaya MLA sent letter to CM, appeal to allowed stranded citizens to return home

Shillong, April 13: Mr Himalaya Shangpliang Congress MLA from Mawsynram Constituency today sent letter to the Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma asking the state government to allowed stranded citizens in different part of the country to return home.

In the letter sent to the Chief Minister Mr Shangpliang, appreciate the indicatives taken by the state government in combating the pandemic COVID-19 in the state. The lockdown at the national and state level has been alble to contain the spread of the disease to a great extent particularly in Meghalaya.

The MLA from Mawsynram urged the Chief Minister that on behalf of the parents of 2192 stranded students, working professional who have express their desire to return home amidst Corona virus lockdown. The MLA expresses the pain and agony of all such parents and 2192 students of Meghalaya stranded outside the state.

The decision of the cabinet on 6th April 2020 on the point no-9, the MLA from Mawsynram said that in his opinion, is creating a sense of uncertainty on the returns of their sons and daughters to the state beyond the present period of Lockdown.

Mr Shangpliang mentions in the letter to the chief Minister pointed out that vehicles carrying essential commodities from different parts of the country are entering the state daily. However, it is regretted to note that theses children’s whose desire to enter the state are being asked to delay their entry into the state till the end of this month.

In the letter Mawsynram MLA recall that, that even the government of India during the height of the pandemic at the epic centre namely Wuhan, Italy and others countries Central Government has evacuated it own citizens to return home.

The MLA from Mawsynram appeal the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mr Conrad K Sangma to reconsider the decision and initiate appropriate step to bring back the stranded sons and daughters safely home immediately without further delay.

The Government may mandate the parents and the 2192 young people to abide by all necessary protocol in place required to be followed for the safety of the citizens of the state as well as the stranded citizens, mention Mr Shangpliang   MLA in the letter sent to the Chief Minister today.
