Shilong, July 11: Mr HS Shylla is back to politic, today formerly he re-entry into the UDP party from the nongkrem Constituency along with more than hundred leaders from the area both men and women witness today at the residence of UDP president Donkupar Roy, in which he was declear as the MDC candidate from Nongkrem constituency in the MDC by-election that will be held later this year.
Speaking to media person leader of opposition and UDP chief, said, “As per the constitution of UDP to declare the candidature of anyone it has to first go through the State Election Committee (SEC) but in this case since there is only one applicant recommended by UDP Nongkrem Circle and District the declaration from the SEC will just be a formality and we will be doing it when the time is right.”
He said that inhis meeting with the DCA Minister HDR Lyngdoh, he was told that due to this rainy season elections cannot be held and suggested the month of September or October will be ideal for by-election. The UDP call this campaign Mission Nongkrem in order to ensure that Shylla wins the MDC bye elections,” he said,
On the statements made by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma that the MDC by-elections have to be put on hold until the High Court announces its decision on the Dual Post issue, Roy said, “The High Court has yet to give any interim order in this regard and it is very wrong on the part of the CM or the government to make such statements however if the High Court did give an interim order then that’s a different matter altogether.
He said that the party is lucky to have a friend like Shylla who once took the wrong path and later when he realized that he had taken the wrong path he decided to come back to the party.The UDP will also be contesting from the entire constituency in which the post of MDC has been left vacant.
Answering to quires, Dr Roy said that there support is issued based. The party also wants to be associated with regional parties however everyone knows why ARPA topple, and after that there were many problems inside the regional party that made UDP MDCs to support to the present KHADC CEM Mr P N Syiem base on issues taken by him.
Mr Shylla said that “I had made that decision in the past not re enter into politic, however the incident of 2014, and MUDA issued and the people of Nongkrem constituency had approached him and he took the decision to accept people request.
When asked why he is not joing the congress party, Mr Shylla said that the future of the congress is no more though he was a star campaigner for the present Congress MP Mr Vincent H Pala, and there is no inner democracy in the congress party where the central is dictated term where they have nothing to say.
And on the relation between the people of Nongkrem and the local MLA Mr Ardent Basaiawmoit, Mr Shylla said that their relation is only on MLA scheme “As it stands right now in the constituency it feels like Nongkrem is under ‘President Rule’ and even the people also find it difficult even to meet the local MLA,” he said.
