Tura June 09: Several NGOs have called for a 12-hour non cooperation movement (NCM) on June 12 and 13, in protest against the recent custodial deaths.
The NCM, which is observed as a ‘bandh’ will be effective from 5 am to 5 pm. On the gruesome murder of Jospin M. Sangma, the GSU has decided to support the call of the mother’s union and senior citizen’s for public rally on June 10 at Chandmari playground. The student body has urged the government to release an ex-gratia of Rs. 15 lakh to his bereaved family.
The body has also slammed the government on its failure to provide compensation to Late Washington N. Marak. He was killed in a fake encounter by police four years ago. The National Human Rights Commission had directed government to release the compensation. (SP News)
