Shillong, Feb 23: The North East Dialogue Forum (NEDF) has written to the Union Minister external affair government of India, requesting to play a proactive role to bring peace and stability in the Northern Rakhine State of Mynamar.
Dr PBM Basaiwmoit on behalf of the NEDF, in the latter sent to the external affair union minister said that the GoI is very much aware on what is taking place in Northern Rakhine State of Myanmar and as a consequence, the innocent locals are facing the brunt of the conflict between the Myanmarese Army and the Arakan People’s Army whereby, for them, i.e. the locals who are mainly poor tribals, it is being placed between the devil and the deep blue sea.
The NEDF mention also that the Union Minister is also very much aware that four North Eastern States, that is, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura, have eastern borders with Myanmar and therefore, it makes the situation fluid and volatile.
It will be good enough if the Union Government of India to play a proactive role to restore, peace, stability and normalcy in that part of Myanmar so that the local people there could relive their normal day-to-day life and carry on their sustainable livelihoods without let or hindrance.
