Orientation Workshop for Field Officers on Special Outreach program held in Shillong

Shillong, June 28: The Directorate of Field Publicity, Regional Office, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura, Region Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India organized a one-day Regional Orientation Workshop for Field Officers on Special Outreach Program at Institution of Engineers India, Conference Hall, Barik Point, Shillong today.

The main objective of this workshop is to update knowledge and equip the field officers of the region on the theme, Beti Bacchao, Beti Padhao Swaacch Bharat Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and other flagship programs with special focus on 3 years achievement of the Government. The intensive Special Outreach program will be carried out in 3 phases in the three States of Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura and completed in December 2017.

At the function, Shri O.L Marbaniang, Consultant Editor, Highland Post as the Chief Guest said that such programmes organized by DFP will help to reach out to the majority of people specially living in rural and remote areas. He also appreciate the vision of DFP for organizing periodical workshop to energise and sharpen the knowledge of field officers to meet the challenges of the fast changing times. He further emphasized that the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is faster than the flows of time which shows his eagerness to change India to be at par with the advanced nations.

Shri D.P Pariat, Guest of Honour urged the field officers to be the eyes and voice of the Government. He also stress the need to re-dedicate ourselves with a missionary zeal to meet the challenges and to stay relevant with the fast emerging social media era. He further emphasize that if we fail to adapt to the changes and innovate ourselves, we may be left behind.

Shri J. Gangte, President of todays function says that we are the tools of the Central Government and missionary for implementation of all government schemes and should begin within our courtyard. He also stressed that we need to be very sensitive and maintain a balanced approach while reaching out to the people at the grass root level in order to link effectively.

In his speech, Dr. Engam Pame, Regional Director, DFP, Shillong, impressed that the main vision of DFP is to create well informed communities keeping in view of the national Objectives of the Government to reach the last man in the last mile. He further emphasized that besides information dissemination, the activities of DFP also include social marketing and social mobilization for increasing participatory advocacy. He remarks that this special campaign will pave a long way in making India a vital and progressive nation.

In the technical session, Smt I. Wajri, Mission Director, SRCW Shillong, Shri T.H. Tunglut, Chief Manager, SBI, Shillong and Dr. Akelabhai delivered as resource person on their respective theme. The function was also attended by representatives from All India Radio, Doordarshan Kendra, DAVP, NGOs, Stakeholders and students. The program was chair by Shri James Kynjing.
