Shillong, June 18: The 1st VDP Rally of Sohiong Circle was held at Sohiong Village which was organized by the East Khasi Hills District Police covering Sohiong and Mawngap area. The Rally was attended by VDPs and other village elders. SDPO Sohra explain to the members on VDP rules, relevant sections of the IPC and CrPC. The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shillong gave an awareness on the following subjects:-
Public taking the law into their own hands while dealing with alleged ‘Mensohnoh’ the legal implication to it and the commitment of the District Police to book such people who take the law into their own hand.
Crime against women and children and role of VDP to prevent such crime. Awareness among public to report commission of crime immediately without fear.
He appreciated the role of VDPs for their vigilance in the area for preventing the crime. On the occasion S.P. East Khasi Hills, Shillong rewarded the VDP of Nongbsap for good work. (SP News)
In reality, those who are trying to take the law in the name of Menshohnoh, I believe that they should also be booked in the same category like those who were booked under MPDA.
Moreover, seeing the way how drivers are driving in such a way putting others in dangers always; especially those accident cars should be seized and driver and car owner should be put behind bar immediately. Stringent Laws like MPDa should be dealt with them also. Otherwise, everyday we could see major accidents in and around Shillong.
