Shillong, September 22: Renowned violinist from Kolkata, Prosanto Chunder Dutt Syiem will soon enthral music lovers in the city on September 24, in a musical concert which will kick start from 6PM onwards know as the ‘Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan’ at U Soso Tham Auditorium Shillong.
The hour and a half long musical concerts scheduled to take place in the city is an initiative of All India Radio (AIR) in collaboration with AIR Shillong. For the past many years the musical concert had been organised across the country and this is the first time Western Music is being incorporated.
Addressing reporters here on Thursday, “We have held this music concert once in Shillong however it was only on Hindustani and Carnatic music but this is the first time we are introducing Western Music and violinist Dutt will be playing Western Classical Violin with his wife on piano.”
The concert will also feature two prominent bands from the pine city Soul Mate and Lou Majaw and Friends. The musical concert is being organised simultaneously in 24 states across the country.
“We would like to invite everyone to this musical concert especially to all those music lovers in the state,” he said.He informed that that the musical concert being held in the city will be free of any charges to the general public.
It may be noted that Dutt born to a Khasi mother has performed in various solo concerts in Delhi, Kolkata, Holland, Germany etc.. He has also been an artist with AIR Kolkata close to 40 years playing Western Classical Music.
