Social organization of the state expresses their concerns for slow process in Implementation of the Three Bills

Shillong, July 14: The 13 (Thirteen) Social Organizations of the state of Meghalaya, wishes to express our concerns with regards to the extremely  slow process in the Implementation of the Three  Bills  to regulate influx in the state ,namely ,the Entry and Exit Points ,the Tenants Verification and Regulation Bill and the Amendment of the Benami Transaction, Detection and Prohibition bill, which  are  still under scrutiny and consideration, despite of the prolonged discussion and consensus arrived at  between  the State government and the  social organizations  to implement the same at the earliest .

Considering our genuine concern we feel that the State government must kindly clarify on the below mentioned points to put an end to our apprehensions on the delay in the implementation of the regulations.

The Exit and Entry points being referred to the SIA (Social Impact Assessment) Status report of the same till date.

The Tenants Verification and Regulation Bill, referred by your Government to the Select Committee in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, to our knowledge, have not even had a single meeting to discuss over the draft Bill. Reasons for the delay to convene a meeting of the select committee?

The Amendment of the Benami Transaction Detection and Prohibition bill of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly status report till date.

In conclusion, we the 13 social organizations of the state of Meghalaya wish to convey that you kindly convene a meeting at the earliest to clarify on the above mentioned queries so we can have better clarity on the progress made by your Government for the satisfaction of all concern.
