Suspected militants of the United A’chik Liberation Army fire at the petrol pump at Williamnagar

Tura, April 30: A petrol pump in Williamnagar was fired upon by suspected militants of the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) today. The incident took place around 4:15 pm.

No one was hurt in the firing. Two bullets hit the counter, and the fuel pump.

East Garo Hills SP, Davis Marak confirmed the firing. Marak said, “It seems that the armed militants came from across the river in a boat, fired at the pump and went back. The modus operandi suggests it to be a handiwork of Norok Momin led UALA outfit”.

The Janusa petrol pump is located about 4 km from Williamnagar, the district headquarter of East Garo Hills.

An operation has been launched to nab the suspected militants. Police have recovered 25 bullet shells of AKs from the petrol pump.

Two months ago, an NRL petrol pump adjacent to Williamnagar Civil Hospital was attacked by militants of breakaway faction of A’chik National Volunteers Council (ANVC-B).

An eyewitness to the incident said, a ricochet from a bullet hit a cadres, who was taken away by other militants.(SP News)
