Shillong, June 03: Ka Jutang is the covenant accorded between the Divine and the creation – the oral scriptures being the testimony, the planet earth – the golden age when the sixteen huts sixteen nests were of the Divine Order, dear to the Creator, out of whom, the seven huts seven nests Hynniewtrep Hynniewskum, were destined to rule over other crreartions, the plants and animals kingdoms on earth, while the remaining nine huts nine nests Khyndaitrep Khyndaiskum, remained in their celestial abode. The Hynniewtrep descended to settle down on mother earth, through the golden ladder Jingkieng Ksiar atop the sacred U Lum Sohpetbneng peak, the Umbilical heavenly peak, according to the Ka Jutang.
Ka Jutang testifies the humility of the cock or rooster, who pleaded before the Devine for forgiveness of the transgression of the earthly creations, and that the sun once again shine upon the earth.
Ka Jutang was reached therefore, the consent of the Devine, that the rooster crow three times, and that the light of the sun would dawn upon once again in the world and upon all creations.
Today therefore is the ceremonial presentation of the scripture in Ka Jutang, which from the bosom of Mother Earth has sprouted the seed of deep rooted spiritual and mythological philosophy, which over time and the ages, has grown into the legendary tree, of the everlasting reality of the belief and faith of Niam Khasi Religion and the flowering of the multi-coloured cultural branches amidst the social matrilineal practices, matured by reasoning power of composure.
