The BSF caught 13 cattle from the Indo Bangla Border at Lyngdkhat

Shillong, July 03: Keeping strict vigil at the borders of Meghalaya with Bangladesh, the BSF troops once again foiled the attempt of cattle smugglers to smuggle these animals to Bangladesh in the area of Lyngkhat, East Khasi Hills District  A BSF Special ambush party while dominating the area observed a suspicious movement of few persons along with cattle.

They immediately cordoned the area however the suspected miscreants fled towards Bangladesh taking advantage of dense forest and thick vegetation. A thorough search was carried out BSF party seized 13 Nos cattle from the spot.

In the last two days BSF has seized 54 nos cattle approx worth 7.73 Lacs from the International border along Meghalaya in the areas of Baldamgiri (SWGH), Kapasipara (SGH), Kakargora (SWKH) and Karigora (SWKH).

Recently cattle smugglers have increased their activity in the bordering areas due to the forthcoming festival of IdUl- Fiter, the demand of cattle has increased manifold in the Bangladesh. But alert BSF troops keep constant vigil and conduct special operation in International Border to check menace of smuggling of cattle.

The high profit after sale in Bangladesh and lacunae in our rules while dealing cattle in Meghalaya has made the cattle smugglers to attempt again and again despite all out efforts by BSF to foil their attempts.
