Shillong, March 09: The Border Security Force is organized International Women’s Day on 8th March 2018 to mark the day and celebrate its importance, many cultural activities and events were organized by BSF Frontier Mawpat Shillong and at various other BSF locations in Meghalaya Frontier.
This year UN’s theme for International Women Day is “PRESS FOR PROGRESS” and BSF has also taken steps for progress of women. International Women’s Day, as the name implies, is dedicated to celebrating womanhood, their social, political, cultural, economic achievements and their significant contributions to society.
The day also emphasises the importance of gender equality and justice and to celebrate the spirit of ordinary women who plays an extraordinary role in shaping their families, communities and society and thus show case the achievements of women.
The BSF is one of the Force where women are serving the nation in all ranks side by side with male folks. Besides serving their families, the women are becoming a force to reckon with, which is amply clear from the achievements they have made internationally in the field of science, arts, finance and entrepreneurship. Women have now also become an integral party of BSF and are manning International borders of the nation along with men in almost all over India.
