Shillong, Nov 30: A Blood donation camp in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS and Meghalaya AIDS Control Society was organized by BSF on 29th Nov 2018 on the eve of BSF Day. The camp was inaugurated by Mr L Mohanti, IPS, IG in the presence of Dr A C Bhardwajan, DIG(Med)/Medical Supdt, Composite Hospital, Shillong and other senior BSF officers.
The IG delivered a motivational speech to the volunteers gathered for blood donation and emphasized the importance of blood donation stating that one unit of blood donated by one individual can save life of four persons. So this is the best donation one can do and that is why blood donation is called “RAQT DAN MAHADAN”
To lead from the front and give an example for others,Dr A C Bhardwajan, DIG(Med) and MS of the Composite Hospital also donated on this occasion. Altogether 115 serving personnel of BSF including the serving ladies staff of BSF donated blood with a zeal to save the lives of citizens.
By doing so border men have exhibited that they are ready to save the civil citizens of India not only by guarding the border but also by donating the blood. BSF has been organizing blood donation camps at various occasions earlier also.
