The College teachers in Meghalaya with the rest of the country, observed ‘Demand Day’

Shillong, April 19: College teachers in Meghalaya along with their counterparts across the country, observedShillong College teachers ‘Demand Day’ on Wednesday to pressurize the central government to publish the 7th UGC Pay Review Committee’s report and National Education Policy.

Endorsing the call of All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations (AIFUCTO) for launching a nationwide agitation against the alleged apathetic attitude of the government towards the teaching community. The President Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association , Dr.(Ms.) B.H.Buam expressed deep concern and solidarity to the cause of safeguarding the democratic system of education.

Members of the MCTA wore black badges as a sign of protest and held meetings at their respective colleges on Wednesday against the alleged indifference of the authorities towards their pending demands, including greater funds allocation for teaching and research and appointment of teachers against all vacant posts.
