Shillong, June 7: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has promulgated an Order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting assembly of 5 (five) or more persons in one place, carrying of any lethal weapons, carrying of any lubricants like petrol, diesel in bottles, cans etc and any other inflammable substances. The Order also prohibits moving around suspiciously with bottles etc, drinking in public places or road etc.
The order has been issued in view of the information received that some anti social elements are indulging in arson and various other anti social activities creating Law and Order problem in the District and these sort of activities if allowed may cause inconvenience, disruption, obstruction, annoyance to the general public and may result in disturbance of the public tranquillity or a riot or any affray within the District, unless immediately prevented.This order shall come into force with immediate effect from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM everyday and remain in force till further orders.
The Deputy Commissioner Mr P S Dkhar told SP News Agency that this promulgation of Section 144 CrPC is for the entire District of East Khasi Hills District, this confirmation was given when asked whether this promulgation is only for Shillong City or in the District as a whole.
