The KHNAM Youth Wing, submitted a memorandum to Power Minister on Jugalli pass out

Shillong, November 29: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) Youth Wing, on Tuesday submitted a memorandum apprising the Power Minister of Meghalaya Sngewbhalang Dhar on the delay of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) in appointing Jugali employee.

The Movement pointed out that MeECL had invited candidates for physical test and personal interviews for appointment to the post of Jugali in MeECL in the month of August and September 2012, through a notification dated August 6, 2012 at second ground Polo, Shillong and Lumjingshai, Old HRD hall.

“Many youths have attended the physical test and personal interviews with the hope for appointment, however the MeECL has failed to notify the names of the successful candidates for more than 4 years now, leaving these candidates in a state of confusion and dilemma,” KHNAM youth wing president Thomas Passah told reporters after submitting the memorandum at the office of the Power Minister.

Informing that after almost 5 years the MeECL have notify the results of 772 successful candidates on August 2, 2016, he said, “In the said notification it was also mentioned that appointment will be made in 3 phase i.e I, II and III, however 5 months have passed since the MeECL had notify the merit list for the appointment to the post of Jugali, but not even a single candidate have been appointed till date.”

According to him, as per the government rules and regulation it is a well know fact that the merit list is valid for only a period of one year from the date of notification.“We don’t want the MeECL to deceive the youths of the state who had hoped to get employment which is their right as they had passed the exams and personal interview and we don’t know what is the intension of the Corporation since even after the results is released they have to appoint the successful candidates,” Passah said.

As per the RTI filed by KHNAM it was observed that MeECL had earlier intimated that delay in declaring the result was due to constrain of funds and now again MeECL have intimated that appointment will be based on availability of funds.“The MeECL had appointed 33 Assistant Engineers, 55 Junior Engineers, 19 Junior Divisional Accountant and 1 Law officer in the year 2012, therefore using financial crises as a reason for delay in appointment by MeECL is unacceptable,” he said.

He said the MeECL did not hesitate to appoint higher ranked employees, whereas the Corporation seems to be reluctant when it comes to appointment of Jugalies who are the work force for the safety and welfare of the general public. The Movement in the memorandum has also requested the Ministers intervention on the matter to initiate appointment of these candidates who have successfully made it to the merit list for the post of Jugali.
