The KSU will write to the Chief Minister on the Uranium mining issue

Shillong, July 07:  The Khasi Student Union (KSU) who were opposing the uranium mining in the state for  overlong time , they will write to the Chief minister to seek clarification on the stand of the state government, base on the tender called by the Uranium Corporation India Limited (UCIL) expression of Interest.

The president of the student body told media person that the organization is not opposing the development activities, but they are against Uranium mining, because this will have an impact on the health of the people in the area and the state in general.

The KSU demand from the state government and the Khasi Hills Autonomous District council not to issue any No Objection Certificate (NOC) for mining of Uranium in South West Khasi Hills. The UCIL has by pass the state government and the District Council by calling the tender.

The KSU from time to time has opposed the Uranium mining in the state, they have always explain to the people that all the development activities that  that the UCIL want to implement in the are is to felicitate Uranium mining.

The KSU with open mind they are always ready for the dialogue on the issue related to health of the people if Uranium is mine. The KSU is concern with the health of the people, from the tender called by the UCIL, it seem that they want to mine the Uranium by force.
