Shillong, September 05: The Chairman of the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) Mr David Nongrum , said “we have issue show cause notice to the leasee of the Crowborough Hotel Mr Lessly Shylla that he should reply to the corporation with 15th of this month September”.
Speaking to SP News Agency, Mr David said that the MTDC has leased the project to Mr Lessly Shylla, and the Managing Director has got the detail of the agreement. He confirms that the show cause notice was served to Mr Shylla.
The Crowborough Hotel started its construction in 1980, it has gone also into litigation with the construction company where the state government has to spent cores of rupees to settle the litigation out of court settlement to get back the prime land belong to the government at Khyndailad.
After the government settles the litigation with the construction companies, M/S Asthra Construction Pvt Ltd on February 19, 1993, at a cost of Rs 2.65 cores; the government had to pay Rs 1.94 cores to MSS Builders.
When the state government has settle down the litigation out of court settlement with the two above company, the MTDC call for the tender to lease out the project to private parties to complete the project, where it was awarded to Mr Lessly Shylla with the agreement that he will pay Rs.98.997 cores for a period of 33 years.
