The NIT Meghalaya reserved 50 pc seats for the home state students: BB Biswal

Shillong, June 09: The Director of the National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya Mr Bibhuti Bhushan Biswal inform that 50 percentage of seats in the Institute is reserved for the home state students and 50 percentage is for the all India students.

Speaking to media person today in the office   of the NIT Meghalaya at Laitumkhrah, he said that when the permanent campus is completed at Saitsohpen, in Sohra the intake capacity is 1260 students and it is expected to be completed by 2020 or 2021. The total cost of the project is Rs.800 cores and so far they have spent only Rs. 156 cores.

The Director also informs that so far the main building is nearly completed but they will shift to the permanent campus only when it is fully completed the whole project. He Mr Biswal said that so far the construction work is going on smoothly.

At present in the temporary complex at Bijini Laitumkhrah they could run only in five departments, three in science that is Physic, Chemistry and Mathematic and humanity. The Institute will also introduce new courses like, Food processing, Mining Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Geological Engineer.

The primary aim of the institute is to impart education and carry out the researched in technology related domains. The Director said that why people go outside for further studies when it is hear in the state.
