To promote and encourage digital payment Govt to hold DigiDhan Mela

Shillong, February 02:To promote and encourage digital payment method by consumers and merchants, a one day DigiDhan Mela under the Lucky Grahak Yojana and DigiDhan Vyapar Yojana will be held on 7th February 2017 in the premises of the State Central Library, Shillong from 10 AM onwards in which the main function for the Mela will be held at 3:30 PM at U Soso Tham Auditorium, State Central Library, Shillong.

The mela to be organised by the Information Technology & Communication Department, Meghalaya will see the participation of State Bank of India, other major banks, Agriculture Department, Meghalaya, Meghalaya Energy Corporation Ltd, Food Corporation of India besides Paytm, Airtel Money, Reliance Money, Amul, etc.

In the mela, a number of digital services will be available like assistance to the public on digital payment mechanism, communication regarding e-governance services, e-wallet services, mobile wallet besides services by the banks like registration of merchants for PoS machines /Sale of  PoS or AEPS devices, opening of bank accounts, registration/ distribution of Debit/ Prepaid Cards, seeding of Aadhar & Mobile numbers with bank accounts and assistance and training in the installation and usage of UPI  Apps & bank wallets.

Other highlights of the event will be various creative contests to be organised by the District Administration, East Khasi Hills District prior to the holding of the mela.

It may be mentioned here that DigiDhan Mela is a daylong event where banks, Common Service Centres, private digital payment service providers will provide services to consumers and merchants to adopt digital payment.
