Shillong, November 23: The Congress MDC candidate from Laban- Mawprem Constituency Mr Moon Lyngdoh who was asked by the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma and the MPCC president Mr DD Lapang not to contest any more in the upcoming MDC by-election schedule for 13 December is likely to file his nomination as Independent Candidate.
Speaking to SP News Agency over phone, Mr Lyngdoh said that “ my supporters are requesting me to contest as independent candidate from Laban-Mawprem MDC constituency, I still have time to consult with my people if at all I have to contest”.
This decision that the Congress party will not contest this MDC by-election was taken at the meeting held at the residence of the MPCC president Mr DD Lapang, on the 16th November 2016. The reason that the congress has to backup from contesting from Laban Mawprem Constituency is that the NCP is a collation partner in the government the party will support the NCP candidate, said Mr Lyngdoh.
Mr Lyngdoh said that “we are still in the consultation process from all angles weather to contest or not in this coming MDC election, we still have four days’ time to decide whether to contest or not, if I have to contest will contest as independent candidate”.
