BSF Campaign on environment “My Earth My duty”

 

Shillong, Aug 18:“My Earth My duty” an environment awareness programme is being conducted by the Border Security Force on 19th August 2014 to create awareness among its personnel and the general public about the need to protect the environment for the present generation and posterity. Under this initiative, the Border Security Force will be carrying out the plantation of 1.8 lakh saplings within half an hour from 1000 to 1030 hrs all over India where the BSF is deployed.

The main purpose of this drive is to inculcate a sense of responsibility among the public to protect their environment / surrounding in order to slow down and reverse the process of climate change. This half an hour drive is expected to be recorded in Limca Book of record.

The plantation programme at BSF campus Umpling shall be inaugurated by Sh A. L. Hek, Hon’ble Health & Family Welfare Minister, Government of Meghalaya.

As part of this campaign troops of Meghalaya Frontier, Border Security Force are planting over 12,000/- saplings at its BOPs, Battalion, Sector and Frontier Headquarters in the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills. Apart from the BSF personnel, their families & children of BSF school will also be participating in this plantation drive.(SP News)
