Amapti May 17:South West Garo Hills district recorded an overall high voter turnout of 83.74 percent in the By-election to the 2-Tura Parliamentary constituency which ended peacefully on Monday evening.
Of the three Assembly segments in the district, the percentage of votes polled in 53-Ampati was 83.26%, in 54-Mahendraganj 84.32% and in 55-Salmanpara it was 83.57%.
Meanwhile, all the EVMs have been safely stored in the well guarded Strong Room in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office building, Ampati, which was sealed in the presence of the General Observer, Alka Shrivastav, Deputy Commissioner & Assistant Returning Officer, Ampati, Ram Singh and the representatives of political parties shortly after midnight.
