Shillong, July 11: Due to the restriction from the forest department on charcoal supply to the ferrous alloys industry at the Export Promotion Industrial park (EPIP) at Byrnihat in Ri Bhoi District has affected the daily functioning of many industries in the area.
Sources from the forest Department told SP News Agency that the government has not only restricted the supply of charcoal, the department has band the supply of charcoal to ferrous alloy industry in the whole state.
The Forest department maintain its stand that when they issued the NOC to thus companies who wants to set up ferrous alloys in the state they have clearly stated that they should import charcoal from outside the state.
The staff of the forest department has intercepted many trucks who were illegally transporting charcoal to the industry at Byrnihat. It was learn that many ferrous alloy Industry in Byrnihat has close down due to not availability of charcoal form the local market.(SP News)
