Shillong, March 19: Bharatiya Janata Party, a party with a difference. But often we ask how it is different from others, well, the BJP designates its official ideology and central philosophy to be “integral humanism”, based upon a 1965 book by Deendayal Upadhyaya. Being a person to value humanism, I have decided to join the party.
I was born way back in 6th January 1969 in the khliehriat village, Meghalaya. My father (L) Shri Phon Swer and my mother Smti Mon Lyngdoh were the resident of Meghalaya. I am a citizen of India by birth and a follower of Indigenous faith and believer (Niamtre).
After completing my graduation in Comerce in 1990 from NEHU, I have pursued several courses Basic course, the Rescue Service course and Welfare service course on Aug-Sept 1948 conducted by controller civil defense Jowai, Combined Annual Training Camp on December 1986 held at Resubelpara East Garo Hills, the NCC attachment course on Aug-Sept 1988, Account trainee course from A. Paul & co. on May 1992.
In 1993, I formally began my career in serving as a junior Co-operative officer under the co-operative department Govt. of Meghalaya till September 1993, after qualifying a 1st position in MPSC exam.
However, following year, I contested MDC election as an independent candidate for the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District council (JHADC) but lost the election by minimal 300 votes.
In 1994, I was elected as the president of Sein Raij Khliehriat and serve the office till 2006.
In the year 1995, I was elected and served as the chairman of the khliehriat town committee till the year 2000.
In 1996, I became the vice President of Sein Raij Tuber and serving the post till date.
From 2006 to 2010, I was also the executive member of Seng Khihlang Shillong.
Apart from that I have been involved in various social activities. Being a stringent follower of humanism, I believe of preserving human value and that has led me join this part way back in 2004. In my 10 year of association with the party, I have seen although the party is not representing in state assembly of the district council but the party has always raised its voice.
Prior to joining the party I have personally seen the development model of Former Prime Minister and Party Leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee who initiated several development process which help the succeeding Government to walk on the path of development. It was due to his initiative that his succeeding Government could stratezise its development goal.
After joining the party, I got several opportunities to travel to every nooks and corner of the state and also other states. What is more serious is that the present Government lacks vision.
The present leaders in the State Assembly or in Parliament are more involve developing themselves then developing the state.
Although the Congress party is trying its best to take the credit of the development initiative of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA Government but the present Government neither could control the inflation, nor could stop the fall of rupee against dollar. What is more pathetic is that even at the time China is trying to claim North east India, the present Government is focussing more on “Bharat Nirma”.
When the people of North east are facing lot of racism problem at the National capital, the Congress leadership in Delhi are more concern about Rahul Gandhi’s Road show. If the issues are not addressed, road show alone cannot make cannot make congress achieve victory.
The schemes such as Mid-day meal scheme, Prdhan mantra Gram Sarak Yojna and several others often led to scams in various parts of the country. Congress no doubt has brought in several schemes in last ten years of its rule but the implementation part of it was never focussed. The Government at the centre only concentrated in announcing schemes but has never ensured if the schemes actually reached the poor and needy.
It is always colourful to see the Congress achievement programme like Bharat Nirman Programme on Television but the reality is far and unthinkable. Since the programmes and schemes failed to reach majority of the people due to the massive scams often attach to these schemes.(SP News)
