BSF sought cooperation of the police to tackle these cattle smugglers

Shillong, October 09:  the BSF troops deployed at Tungichar, South East Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, apprehended one Indian cattle carrier with 06 Nos cattle. The apprehended cattle carrier identified as Abdul Siddik, resident of Vill-Kukurmua of South West Garo Hills District , Meghalaya, while he was exfiltrating from Indian territory to Bangladesh.

He confessed these cattle were brought from Cattle Haat Ampati to hand over unknown Bangladeshi for smuggling out from India to Bangladesh. He also revealed that the above persons work only as carrier and earns Rs.900/- as haulage.

The BSF seized 58 Nos Cattle in the area of Nayabazar, Lyngkhat, East Khasi Hills and Balughat, West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya worth more than 06 Lacs, while being smuggled into Bangladesh from India.

Prices of cattle have gone up in recent months after the BSF checked the illegal supply channels to Bangladesh. The BSF has continuously been in its drive against the Cattle smugglers. The Border Security Force has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent Trans-border crimes. The BSF also sought cooperation of local police to tackle  these cattle smugglers in hinter land also.
