Chairman of the GCCM complaint to the NCST on dress discrimination against Khasi woman

Shillong, June 28: The Chairman of the Grand Council of Chief of Meghalaya Mr John Kharshiing has sent the complaint to the Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Nand Kumar Sai regarding dress discrimination against our Tribal Khasi woman by Delhi Golf Club on 25th June 2017.

The Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya (comprising of Ka Dorbar Ki Khlieh Nongsynshar Ka Ri Hynniewtrep, The Federation of Khasi States, Ki Sirdarship, Ka Dorbar Ki Dolloi and Council of Nokmas) urge your urgent intervention to investigate, inquire, bring to Justice and to report to Hon’ble President of India, who as per Article 388 A, Section 5,6, &7, shall cause the reports to be placed before both houses of Parliament Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha this grave injustice against our tribal Khasi Woman by the Delhi Golf Club on 25th June 2017.

The non-fulfillment of the national commitment and failure to comply to the numerous directives from the NCST to Union Ministry of Home Affairs, regarding the implementation of the Instrument of Accession and Annexed Agreement 17 August 1948, is the cause for constitutional discrimination against the tribal Khasi Jaintia and Garo people by the majority of India.  We also draw NCST’s urgent intervention to bring about much required amendments to Article 338A so as to include a charter of tribal rights and to make submission of reports before Parliament time bound.
