Co-Chairman of the MSPB discussed land holing system with the ADC’s and traditional head

Shillong, April 08: The Meghalaya State Planning Board, is holding a meeting to discuss mandate, synergy and process of schemes implemented by the ADCs and the Development Departments of Meghalaya,

It is also learnt that a number of schemes relate to creating community assets such as play grounds, community halls, etc., and would have to be subsequently registered with the relevant multiple authorities at Village, Raid, Hima, ADC and at the Revenue Office under the Indian Registration Act 1908, which involves payment of fees at many levels.

In this regard, as we are all aware there are more than 14 to 15 categories of indigenous lands which include Raid Land (khasi community land), Clan Land, Sacred Forests and Private Land, which may require special provisions and legislation for registration of these unique land holding system in our state.

On this sensitive issued the  Co-Chairman of the MSPB has called the meeting on Friday, all the three Autonomous District Council of the state  the Syiem, Sirdar, Nokmas and the Doloi’s at the Conference Hall, Main Secretariat, Shillong.

In this meeting they have discussed at length , on the land holding system in Meghalaya the outcome from this  discussion will be sent to the Government  and recommend suitable suggestions while implementing such developmental schemes to the Government of Meghalaya.
