Cultural evening at IITF, New Delhi organized by the department IPR

Shillong, November 25: Minister for Information and Public Relations, Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh today attended the cultural evening at Lal Chowk Theatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The programme was organized by the Department of Information and Public Relations as part of the ongoing India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2016. The programme was also attended by Smti M.N.Nampui, Director of Information and Public Relations, Shri T. Dkhar, SIO, Meghalaya,  Smti S.R. Marak, JRC, Meghalaya House, New Delhi and officers from different Departments.

In her brief speech, Dr. Lyngdoh appreciated the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) for providing the platform for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the State. She also invites the people to visit Meghalaya and enjoy the serenity and scenic beauty of the State.

The main attraction of the cultural programme include shad Shad Mastieh, Wangala dance, Chad bet symbe (seed sowing dance) performed by the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo artists of Arts and Culture and songs by Gracel Ropmay and Melinda and Group which  enthralled the huge crowd during the show.

After the cultural programme, the Minister also visited the Meghalaya pavilion at the Fair where different stalls showcasing indigenous products and exhibits of the State are displayed. Thousands of people thronged the Meghalaya Pavilion every day during the Fair and purchase the products of Meghalaya like handicraft, handloom, lakadong turmeric and other items.
