Shillong, August 9: The Bharatia Janata Party (BJP) Mawsynram Mandal on Tuesday alleged that one doctor has been collecting salary from CHC Mawsynram while giving her service to CHC Mawphlang for the past two years.
In this connection a delegation of BJP members led by Kesborly Kharbani vice president East Khasi Hills in the presence of H. Syiemlieh president Mawsynram Mandal met Health Minister A. L Hek demanding the immediate transfer of Dr. C Sohkhia from Mawphlang CHC back to Mawsynram CHC.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting with the Minister, Kharbani said that the Health Minister had assured them that the matter will be looked into and had also asked them for a one week time period to resolve the issue.
“The strength of the CHC should be 4 doctors but as of right now there are only 3 doctors and one Doctor (C Sohkhia) for the past 2 years has been drawing he salary from Mawsynram CHC while giving her services to Mawphlang CHC and we have requested the Health Minister that at any cost the Doctor should be re-transferred in order to give her services to the people at Mawsynram,” he said.
Informing that they have also met the Medical Superintendent (MS) in-charge Mawsynram CHC, he said, “The MS has told us that he has informed the matter to the state government, however we have still not seen any action taken on this matter.”
He said the BJP Mawsynram had also written to the local MLA P N Syiem on two occasions with regards to the subject matter but till date nothing has changed.
“There are hundreds of patients at the Mawsynram CHC and the lack of doctors had put the MS in a difficult position due to the work load and it gets even harder to even signing birth certificate,” he said.
The delegation further informed that the matter will also be taken up with the BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh.
